Khalil Siddeeq was prompted to enter a New York Times Student Review Contest by his mom. Khalil has considered himself an amateur writer for some time now, but he had been looking for opportunities to see how his work stacked up to his peers. Khalil entered the New York Times Student Review contest, and although he didn't place in the top ten, his work was chosen as a Runner Up. There were over 1250 student reviews entered in the contest. Khalil hopes to enter the contest again next year, but next time he hopes to snag one of the top ten spots.
